“What does the lord Require of You"

This question of introspection is asked of the Israelites by God through the prophet Micah. They felt it was enough to offer worship God on regular basis. But they neglected to “love their neighbor” as also commanded by God.

Thus, by God’s standard, He found them wanting. He then proceeds to “make plain” His expectations by answering His own question.

His answer … “Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly” sums up the necessity of treating people with dignity and respect.

Because the Israelites repeatedly failed to live out this mandate, it was one of the leading causes that led to their defeat and exile by the Assyrians.

Through the month of June, we will examine the “Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly” command and discover how do we as a church and Christ followers live out this mandate in our social environment within our 21st century context.
